The Ramblin' Wreck
The Ramblin' Wreck is a 1930 Ford Model A Sport coupe that serves as the official mascot of the student body at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The Wreck is present at all major sporting events and student body functions, but its most noticeable role is leading the football team onto the field before each game.
The Wreck has been around since 1914, when it was first used by Dean Floyd Field to drive around campus. Over the years, it has been owned by students, faculty, and alumni, and has undergone a number of modifications and restorations. The current Wreck was donated to the school in 1961, and has been maintained by the Ramblin' Reck Club ever since.
The Wreck is a beloved part of Georgia Tech culture, and is often seen around campus and at sporting events. It is also a frequent target of pranks by rival schools, such as the University of Tennessee and the University of Georgia. However, the Wreck always seems to come out on top, and continues to be a symbol of pride for the Georgia Tech community.
